About Mobile Game Report

Most mobile game coverage is written for the algorithm, shaped by studio relationships, or optimized for whatever just launched. The games that actually reward real time investment — idle RPGs, roguelites, the quietly excellent indie that nobody found — get a fraction of the attention they deserve. MGR exists because that gap was too obvious to ignore.

The research infrastructure behind this site came before the publication did. We spent time in the communities where players talk honestly, mapped what actually held up, and tracked where the coverage gaps were. At some point it became clear this coverage wasn't going to come from anywhere else.

Everything here is based on time spent with the games themselves — not press kits, not sponsored placements, not the size of a studio's marketing budget. Gamers, developers, artists, and studios of every size get the same editorial treatment. Coverage earned, not bought. When a game earns a mention, it held up. When it doesn't, we say so.

We write comparisons, tier lists, genre roundups, and guides to help players find their next game without wading through app store noise or influencer-driven hype. The writers who cover these games play them — so the coverage stays specific and the opinions stay grounded.

The Team

MC
Marcus Chen

Senior Editor

Marcus has been covering mobile games since the early days of the App Store. He came up through iOS review sites and shifted his focus to idle RPGs when the genre exploded around 2016. He's put more hours into AFK Arena than he'd like to admit, and his interest in Capybara Go borders on professional obligation. He writes the deep-dive idle RPG pieces — progression systems, pay-to-win analysis, and what happens to a game's community after a major balance patch.

PK
Priya Kapoor

Roguelite & Action Editor

Priya found mobile gaming through Archero in 2019 and never left. Since then she's played every roguelite and bullet-heaven game that's cleared the App Store review queue. She tracks build meta religiously, resets runs without complaint, and has strong opinions about which games understand permanent upgrades and which ones fake it. If a game has runs, she's covered it.

JM
Jordan Miles

Managing Editor

Jordan spent four years as an app curator helping players find what to install after burning out on their current game. He joined MGR as Comparisons Editor before moving into an editorial leadership role, overseeing coverage strategy and studio relations. He still reads every pitch that comes in.

TR
Tasha Reeves

Features & Roundups

Tasha covers everything. Her taste runs wide across mobile gaming — she's equally at home reviewing a casual idle sim and dissecting the F2P economy of a gacha RPG. She writes the site's best-of lists and genre roundups, with particular attention to games that respect the player's time and wallet. Her test for any recommended game: would she still be playing it in two weeks?

DA
Dev Ashford

Senior Editor

Dev came to mobile gaming from a background in economics, which makes him unusually good at unpacking F2P systems. He covers gacha RPGs, hero collectors, and comparison pieces — the kind of writing where understanding the math matters as much as knowing the meta. He's written extensively on Idle Heroes, Raid Shadow Legends, and Mythic Heroes, and he takes a hard line on predatory monetization.

RO
Riley Okafor

News & Industry

Riley covered the mobile gaming industry from the business side before joining MGR. She tracks developer moves, game launches, and the trends that shape what gets built and what gets played. Her reporting focuses on what's actually happening in mobile gaming — not just what's popular, but why, and what it means for the players who stick around.
